THE SKIRT  in ´pineapple leather` is our sustainable take on the essential leather skirt. The skirt is slightly a-line for a flattering shape and comes in the popular midi-length. The Pineapple skirt has side pockets for extra comfort and casualness and has a silver exposed zipper in the back as finishing touch.

The Pineapple skirt is our THE SKIRTway of showing a really amazing new material as an alternative to the classic leather skirt. It is fully vegan and made of natural fibers. (no petroleum!) Piñatex is innovative natural, non-woven material made from pineapple leafs, which are left-overs from the agricultural industry!  It’s a more sustainable alternative to leather and petroleum based textiles. The fabric behaves as leather and is almost as strong as leather. Compared to petroleum based faux leathers it’s much stronger. Additionally it has a higher quality and therefor lasts longer.

Custom fit: Fill in your sizes closest to your standard size. Adjust the measurement in the size charts for the perfect fit. Fill in your height and we adjust the length of the skirt automatically to your height. It’s easy to get a perfect fit!

The Pinatex skirt is a part of our Custom fit Essentials Wardrobe. Our focus is to create the perfect pieces for your everyday closet. Each garment serves a clear purpose and has carefully been developed so you can be your own size.

Our aim is to build a sustainable business which all starts with our concept of producing on demand. We are also aiming to be transparent about the way the product is produced and where the fabrics come from. 

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

The Fabric:

  • Piñatex is a natural, innovative and patented new material, made from  pineapple  leaf fibres gathered by partner farming cooperatives in the Philippines. Piñatex fibres  are the by-product of the pineapple harvest. No extra land, water, fertiliser or  pesticides are required to produce the material.

Certificates:

  • GOTS: The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is a certification that limits the use of dyes, toxic bleaches and chemical inputs during the production process of textiles as well as the growth of the fibre.
  • AFIRM standards: Focus on limiting and phasing out chemicals from apparel industry.
  • REACH compliant: Regulations of the European Union to improve human health and protect the environment from harmful chemicals. Also reducing animal testing.
  • Peta-approved VEGAN

The lining:

  • The lining is in a sustainable cupro made from lefter over fibers from the cotton textile production. The cupro milled in Italy. Gi. Tessil Foderami is a third generation family owned factory that makes the very best cellulose fibre.

Certificates: 

  • OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100: Certificate that ensures that every component of the product, including thread, textile and buttons, has been tested for harmful substances.

 

The trims:

The metal zippers are sourced from Italian UNIZIP

Production:

  • The skirt is crafted by our skilled seamstresses in our atelier in Lithuania. We have visited the atelier numerous time and a great collaboration. The employees work in very good conditions and get a decent salary.

    Love my pineapple skirt. It fits perfectly on my waist and hips. That is often a problem for me with leather/more stiff skirts and actually in general with trousers. I feel pretty cool wearing this skirt. And I love the fact that it’s made of actual pineapple leafs!

Size and measurement guides

See how to measure for each part of the dress.

The videos show you how to take your body measurements correctly. The video guide is language accompanied and we recommend turning on the volume.
Let´s start taking your measurements. You need a measurement tape and 5 minutes of your time. Put yourself in front of a mirror, this can help. Wear tight clothes or only underwear for the best result.

To measure your chest, position and pull the tape measure around your body where your chest is as broadest (under your armpits, around your back and back to the front) to get the right measure.

Fold the measurement tape around your natural waist, where it is as smallest, a few cm above your belly bottom. Keep it parallel to the floor. Avoid holding your breath or pulling your stomach.

TIP: If you are unsure, measure 21 cm straight down from the chest. There is your most defined waist according to our measurement system.

Pull the tape around the widest part of your hips. Adjust the tape measure slightly up and down to ensure that it is the widest part. Look in the mirror to assure you keep the tape straight.

Measure from top of shoulder to desired length.

For dresses measure first to your hips, then bend and adjust measurement tape to
get the right length. For asymmetrical dresses measure to the shortest part of the
dress.

For skirt length: Place the tape on your earlier defined waist. Hold the tape on your knee and secure the tape with one hand. Bend forward and measure to the length desired. Measure from your waist (earlier defined) to length desired. For asymmetrical skirts measure to the shortest part of the skirt.

Are you experiencing that the sleeves of your top or dress often too tight around your biceps? We recommend measuring your biceps and adjust the measurement.
Define your biceps by bowing your arm and tensing your muscles. Measure around the widest part of your upper arm.

Measure the exact sleeve length you want. Place the tape on your shoulders and measure to your elbow. Hold the tape on your elbow and let go of the upper part. Then measure the final length from your elbow to the length desired.

Measure the inside of your leg: Place the tape directly under your crotch and measure first to your knee.

Hold the tape on your knee and let go the upper part. Then measure the final length from your knees to the length desired.

Place the measuring tape around your wrist and check the measurement.

Hold your leg straight and place the measuring tape tight around your thigh.
Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed on the largest part of your thigh

Hold your leg straight and place the measuring tape tight around your knee. Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed in the middle of your kneecap.

Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your calf for the right measurement. Pay attention that the measuring tape is placed straight.
